As women of Kappa Kappa Gamma, the ladies of Beta Phi are proud to support Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), our official philanthropic partner. It is truly our pleasure to offer our support through the donation of thousands of books and volunteer hours to Reach Out and Read through the Lolo School district and hospitals. Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF), works to build a literate nation by helping young people discover the joy of reading. RIF’s highest priority is to serve the nation’s under-served children and families through the development and delivery of literacy programs and campaigns that motivate youth to read regularly. Our sisters also support the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation with financial gifts to help fund scholarships, confidential aid, education and training, and support of our two museums. Lastly, our local philanthropy, the Watson Children’s Shelter, is a local shelter for homeless children that we create events with throughout the year. One of our favorite events we have done so far was last spring when our whole chapter made tie blankets for the younger children at Watson’s. Not only was this a fun sisterhood, but it was incredibly impactful to be able to give these children something to bring with them wherever they go.
All of these organizations are near and dear to each of our hearts and we love working to benefit them through putting on events and working directly with the organizations themselves. On top of that, we also encourage our members to support causes they are passionate about! Many of our members take time out of their weeks to spend time educating children through Flagship or Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and giving back to others at the local YWCA and Missoula Shelters. Another common location to find us volunteering is at any of the animal shelters in Missoula where we are constantly walking dogs and petting cats.
